I'm happily married to Joyce (44 years in August 2013) and happily retired.  One keeps me busy, the other gives me time.  Born and lived in the UK all my life apart from two years in Minnesota, USA. We raised two great kids and now have three wonderful grand children.  The grandkids are now two adults and one teenager. I designed and operated communications equipment and networks until joining a sales department where I convinced customers that we did understand the technical side of their business.  So I think that I'm friendly, practical, inventive and sometimes cynical regarding motivations. I've sailed for 30 years, having started much later than the dinghy brats, but now do so passably. We are now on our third boat.  The first was a Westerly GK29, the cruising version based on a 1/2 Ton design.  That became too small for family and friends so we changed to another Westerly, the 36 foot Corsair.  This was a rare ketch version and we sailed her for nearly twenty years around NW Europe and eventually on an Atlantic Circuit. On returning from the Atlantic Circuit we decided to upsize and go further. We are now on a 4+ years circumnavigation in our 1992 Hallberg Rassy 42F Starblazer. "Wherever we want to go, we go. That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails; that's what a ship needs. But what a ship is...what Starblazer really freedom." With apologies and thanks to Captain Jack Sparrow
